  • To advertise the recovation of the licence of a chapel to publish banns and solemnise marriages
  • To advertise the de-registration of any building once used to perform marriages. In the very specific instance in which a place of worship has fallen into disuse and there is an already-used alternative nearby, the registrar general may place a notice in The Gazette to finalise its disuse
  • To advertise the de-registration of any building once used as any place of worship
  • To advertise the registration of any building once used to perform marriages.
  • To advertise the registration or de-registration of a military chapel that was used for rites performed by the Church of England
  • To advertise the registration or de-registration of a military chapel that was used for rites other than those performed by the Church of England
