History
The Belfast Gazette was first published on 7 June 1921 and weekly on a Friday since.
The Dublin Gazette, the forerunner of the Belfast Gazette, was first published in 1706 and has been in continuous production since. From 1922 it has been published under the title Iris Oifigiuil.
With the partition in Ireland and the creation of Northern Ireland and Eire, an official publication was needed in Northern Ireland to replace the functions of the Dublin Gazette.
A separate Companies Law Official Notifications Supplement (for the Registrar of Companies) has been produced since January 1973.
